Like most weekends, I like to take my two Labrador retrievers, Molly and Maddux, on a walk.
Saturday evening I had to take them after dark because we were out all day.
During our walk, there was a piece of the sidewalk that was elevated that I didn’t see and I tripped.
As I was tripping, this scared Molly and Maddux and they pulled me forward as I was falling.
This resulted in me landing on my face.
Not gonna lie, it hurt a little bit:).
2 broken front teeth, busted upper lip, tons of scrapes all over my face, and my left shoulder and wrist were pretty banged up.
When we fall, we have two choices.
1.) Pick ourselves up with gratitude, thanksgiving, and serving others
2.) Pick ourselves up with self pity and complaining
I choose #1.
I’m so grateful that my left wrist and shoulder weren’t broken. That would’ve affected my livelihood since I use arms and wrists to coach my clients.
I’m grateful that my sister in law is a dental hygienist and her dentist works in cosmetic dentistry and can see me this morning to fix my teeth!
I’m really grateful because it’s another lesson I can teach my kids about how to act and respond when we have challenges in life!
How do you respond when you have challenges with your health and wellness?
What do you do when you suffer from a bout of emotional eating?
Do you wallow in self pity and keep emotionally eating hoping the problem will go away or choose to figure out why you keep falling into that pattern make a change?
How do you respond when you stop working out for days/weeks at a time?
Do you make excuses on various situations of your life or do you make a change and put more value in your health and wellness and make a commitment to working out again?
Life definitely isn’t easy and we all face many different and complex problems.
We all have to pick ourselves up when we fall.
The key is in how we respond to that fall!
